Our mission
BootBorrow exists to enable short-term access to cowboy boots everywhere. Creating its first strides in weddings and DFW events, BootBorrow is ready to fit any western-wear need. We are here for game days, galas, gatherings, and everything in between. Based in Dallas, we can accommodate local events and rentals while shipping to anywhere in the continental US. We believe in building something bigger than ourselves, one pair at a time, guided by the same conviction that's carried us from the first pitch to the first pair shipped. How we started
On April 11, 2025, Jess was at a Buc-ee's on the way to a college away weekend in San Antonio when a friend mentioned she'd love to go country dancing that night, but her boots were in Dallas. Imagining ice skates and bowling shoes, conversation sparked over the remainder of the car ride about the possibility of cowboy boot rentals. After God led countless conversations and moments where BootBorrow became more than just a boot rental concept, but a service the western-wear market needed, Jess & Markus partnered to launch over the summer of 2026. BootBorrow LLC was founded in July of 2026 by Jess and Markus Mortenson and launched that August.

Jess Silverstein
Co-founder
Jess graduated in May of 2026 from SMU with a B.A. in fashion media. She also studied business, advertising, and Italian at SMU. Jess has had a passion for fashion since she could walk, and is currently based in NYC. She spent her time in college on the water ski team, as a leader in Alpha Chi Omega, and a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. Jess lived her college years with God at the center, spending time as a bible study leader.
Markus Mortenson
Co-founder
Markus graduated in May of 2025 from SMU with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently pursuing his dual degree with a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and MBA at SMU. He spent his four years as the founder and president of the SMU Water Ski Team, an active faith leader in Beta Upsilon Chi, in the Student Senate, and as a Student Representative to the Board of Trustees for External Affairs in his first graduate year.

Ideas became reality as BootBorrow LLC was founded in the summer of 2026. From there, it moved fast from its creation in July to first events and launch party in August. All of the details began to fall into place. The first BootBorrow wedding was in September over Labor Day Weekend celebrating Charlotte & Stuart Pittman.
